We really like some of the disability travel blog discoveries we’ve made and hope you will, too.
Simply Emma came up time and time again on our searches. Described as ‘a leading travel and disability blog focused on accessible travel and life experiences from a wheelchair user's perspective. The blog was created to encourage others, with or without a disability, to travel more and make new discoveries, whether that’s abroad or in your own hometown.’
We love the travel guides. From London, New York to Aberdeen and Wales. She has had lots of experience in accessible travel. She even wrote about glamping which we thoroughly enjoyed reading about. Best of all she’s not too far away from us. She’s in Scotland.
Jenny writes at The Chronic Traveller. She is extremely well travelled and has even produced an interactive map to document the many countries and continents she’s visited. She is testament that although living with ulcerative colitis and arthritis that it hasn’t held her back from pursuing her dream of travel and discovery.
Carrie Ann Lightley is one of the UK's leading accessible travel blogs, sharing accessibility reviews, disability travel guides and wheelchair travel tips. The blog aims to encourage and inspire disabled people to travel to explore and discover new places.
In 2019, Carrie-Ann was named as one of the top 100 most influential disabled people in the UK, on the Shaw Trust #DisabilityPowerList100. She’s recently wrote a helpful post about wheelchair travel on buses and trains in the Corona Virus pandemic. We particularly enjoyed her Northumberland By Wheelchair post. Carrie-Ann has a wealth of interesting topics around travel tips, city breaks and hotel reviews and even holiday cottages like Mellwaters Barn. Who knows? She may come and stay with us one day.

Cory Lee is further away over in the USA. The name of his blog alone caught our eye … Curb Free With Cory Lee. He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Dystrophy Type 2 when he was aged two. He took a trip to the Bahamas when he was just fifteen and the travel bug bit him. He’s never looked back since and shares the world of travel from a wheelchair user’s perspective. His 7 continents, one wheelchair post is awesome!

We’ve discovered some blogs closer to home, too.
Kate blogs at KateStanforth.com and lives in Northumberland. She has been less mobile for over a decade but has found time to campaign, model and become a disabled dance teacher. She says, ‘My wheelchair doesn't limit me, it enables me.’ We love her canine carer, Spencer.
Jennie Berry is from Hartlepool. She has a great following on Facebook and almost 22,000 followers on her Instagram account. She shares her day to day life out and about in a wheelchair. She is very open and honest about what she faces every day. She talks about challenging people’s perceptions of life in a wheelchair and we love her Northern grit and honesty.

Amy Harbottle is a trained dancer turned professional makeup artist. She has a lifestyle blog called AmysChapter.com. Interestingly, within the blog she also has a wellness Instagram account where she documents her chronic illness journey. You can find it at My Illness, My Thoughts. It documents Amy’s ME {Myalgic Encephalomyelitis} story. She first became ill while at university when she was just 19 years old.
